This Dream Inside My Heart

There's a dream I carry inside
It's my shield, my shining light
It holds all of your words
And all of your love
I'm clinging to it so much it hurts
My dream holds all of your colours
You know my heart like no other
I must have lived here before
A thousand lives
And in each one I found the way to your door
Whatever may come
I'm holding on
To this dream inside my heart
It will never fade
And no one can take it
Away or tear it apart
My dream might not come true
Maybe it's just passing through
It's a beautiful treasure
You're anchored in my heart
And your beauty has changed me forever
Whatever may come
I'm holding on
To this dream inside my heart
It will never fade
And no one can take it
Away or tear it apart
And no one can take it
Away or tear it apart

Cruel whispers live inside my head
Find their way into my heart
They sound as if they scream
Tearing me apart
They're so busy telling me all kinds of lies
Poisoning my thoughts
How can I break free
Where is the antidote
Please hold me and tell me it's alright
Tell me this will pass
That I won't always have to fight
There are angels but their voices don't come through
Drowned out by the whispers
From ghosts of the past
Dark and sinister
Please take my hand and tell me it's alright
Tell me this will pass
That I won't always have to fight
Please hold me and tell me it's alright
Tell me this will pass
That I won't always have to fight
Send me a shining light
Send me a shining light
Some time ago I discovered the Belgian poet and pianist John Joos on Instagram. He writes beautiful short poems in French. I particularly liked two of them:
"Il y a des rêves qui ne se réaliseront probablement jamais mais dont la beauté a changé pour toujours celles et ceux qui les ont portés en eux."
English translation:
"There are dreams that will probably never come true, but whose beauty has forever changed those who carried them in them."
and
"J'ai probablement vécu mille vies dont cell-ci où je suis né pour te dire 'Je t'aime'".
English translation:
"I've probably lived a thousand lives, including this one, where I was born to tell you 'I love you'."
Both poems made me think of some of the dreams I had at the time, and I used to think it was the end of the world if they didn't come true. But reading these two poems made me change my perspective a bit. It made me realise that I could still have those dreams even if they didn't come true and that I could still see the beauty of those dreams.
On th B-side I would like to present a song I wrote after a severe panic attack in September 2021. It was one of those moments where I thought I had completely messed up, but of course I hadn't. As is so often the case, composing this song saved me and helped me to calm down.
