Stepping closer I saw some kind of bar
A warm light from within, it didn’t seem far
Somebody came outside and held out a hand
A woman looking at me, I felt no fear
Like under a spell, I drew near
She had kind eyes that seemed to understand
“Come on in” she said, “and have a seat
Sit by the fire and warm your feet
You might want a bite to eat
Are you in for a special treat?

There was a spark and a twinkle in her eye
Some kind of magic I couldn’t define
Was she a witch, or maybe an angel?
I sipped my coffee and tasted the food
I felt my spirits and an uplifting mood
Was this a fairy place out of a fable?
Reluctantly I stepped outside
Surprisingly, my clothes had dried
The air was soft and warm, and I had a clear view
There were roads I hadn’t seen before
A signpost pointing towards a new shore
The sea was rough but I was going to make my way through
I knew out of the sudden storms could appear
They would make it hard to steer
Yet the woman’s presence is always near
Her voice echoing in my ear

Sometimes you just feel like nothing is going right. And then you meet a kind soul who gives you strength. Sometimes it's just a smile or a few kind words. It could be your best friend, an acquaintance, or a total stranger. When I was in such a situation, I imagined this place - Café Of The Lost Dreams (And The New Horizons), which had a special menu: A coffee of hope, a chocolate of faith, a biscuit of strength, and a cake of luck. And I imagined a woman - the owner of the place - who had this kind of mysterious aura, somewhere between a good witch, an angel or maybe a fairy. She doesn't offer a solution, but through her kindness she helps me to go on and find my own way.
I wrote it in 2015 when I was feeling pretty lost. And I often find comfort in food, and it's just nice when someone offers you a coffee, a piece of chocolate, a biscuit or a piece of cake to make you feel better. And you gain hope and faith and strength, perhaps not so much from the food itself, but from the act of kindness. Of course, there's nothing wrong with being kind to yourself ;-)

This was just a fun song I wrote at the beginning of 2022 and it fits perfectly as the B-side to this single.
Oh boy, do I have a sweet tooth. And there are days when you're just dying for something sweet - in my case, it's very often chocolate, but it can also be salted caramel or walnut ice cream. I can think of a few other sweets and desserts that didn't make it into the song, like crème brulée or lava cake.
Sometimes you just need something sweet because you need it, but sometimes you need it as a substitute because you miss someone or you just need comfort. Both are perfectly fine! Because it's okay to crave something sweet from time to time.
